Barcelona carries a mission that is almost impossible to qualify for the quarter-finals of the European Champions League this season, where they have to win 4-0 at Paris Saint-Germain headquarters. But midfielder Frenkie De Jong believes his team can achieve that mission.
On Thursday Early morning (11/03), Barcelona will travel to Parc Des Princes to take on the challenge of Paris Saint-Germain in the second leg of the last 16 of the European Champions League.
Previously, in the first leg duel at the Camp Nou, Barcelona were surprisingly defeated by a score of 1-4 from the defending French Ligue 1 champions. This big defeat clearly forced the Catalan giants to win 4-0 in the second leg later.
Of course this is not an easy mission, but Barcelona has indeed made an extraordinary comeback against Paris Saint-Germain in the same event.
At that time, in 2017 Barcelona also faced PSG in the last 16. The first leg duel in Paris ended 4-0, but during the second leg at Camp Nou, the Catalan giants managed to comeback by winning 6-1, practically qualifying for the quarter-finals.
Although now the situation is certainly different, midfielder Frenkie De Jong remains confident that his team can make a comeback in the duel later.
“I don’t know if the 4-1 result in the first leg was fair, but we played badly and we will start the second leg in good form and try to be competitive,”
“You have to always believe that a comeback is possible, but we have to prove it tomorrow on the field,” De Jong was quoted as saying by Marca.
This confidence is built along with a series of good results that have been achieved by Barcelona recently, including the comeback from Sevilla in the Copa Del Rey.
“We are always united and we have achieved some good results lately. That unity was seen in the Sevilla match. We are going to Paris to try to win and compete,”
“We are training well, and personally, I feel good, that’s what is important. I want to continue like this because I am happy,” he said.
