Frank De Boer officially become Dutch national team coach to replace Ronald Koeman

After a month as the coach of the Dutch national team, KNVB officially appointed Frank De Boer as Ronald Koeman’s successor, who recently joined Barcelona.

As is known, some time ago, Ronald Koeman was indeed appointed to become Barcelona coach after the end of the Quique Setien era.

Setien himself was thrown out of the manager’s seat because of the bad results the club received last season, where Barca not only failed to defend the La Liga title but were also eliminated sadly from the Champions League.

Koeman’s arrival automatically leaves a vacancy in the seat of the Dutch national team coach. The KNVB briefly appointed Dwight Lodeweges.

Under his direction, the Dutch national team won one win from two matches in the UEFA Nations League last September. However, the KNVB did not seem convinced enough about Lodewegs and eventually appointed Frank De Boer as permanent coach.

Previously, De Boer was known to be in charge of the MLS club, Atlanta United. In his hands, he managed to bring the team to be runner-up in the final standings of the Eastern Conference MLS 2020 season yesterday.

However, it should be noted that De Boer’s career at the club is not always smooth sailing. He was appointed coach of the Netherlands after two months of leaving Atlanta due to the poor start he has experienced in MLS this season.

Based on official information from the KNVB, De Boer’s contract in the Dutch National Team does not last long, only until the upcoming 2022 World Cup.

The 50-year-old man previously handled Ajax Amsterdam and was successful there. However, after leaving the Dutch club, his career went into decline.

De Boer felt the bitterness of his dismissal when he coached Inter Milan and Crystal Palace.

Even at Inter Milan, he could only last for about three months. However, it is better than when dealing with Crystal Palace, where de Boer only lasted 10 weeks.

So far, there has been no response from the Dutch National Team players regarding the appointment of Frank De Boer as their new manager.
