Franco Morbidelli still can’t believe he is now a MotoGP champion candidate

Many predict Fabio Quartararo will be a rider who shines this season. It’s true that it happened, Rider Team Petronas Yamaha SRT won two victories and one podium this season, even he is in 2nd place in the standings.

However, his team-mate, Franco Morbidelli, unexpectedly also earned the same score this season. Thanks to him, the Italian rider managed to break into 4th place in the standings.

Finally, Morbidelli won the second podium in the race at the Aragon Circuit at the Teruel GP last weekend. That way, so far he has collected 112 points, or is 25 points behind the leader, Joan Mir.

Regarding this achievement, Morbidelli himself admitted that he actually did not expect this to happen. In fact, he used to only dream of being a participant in the highest MotoGP event.

However, the Italian man admitted that his determination always wanted to be better than the previous year in order to achieve success.

“To be ranked fourth in the world championship standings in this period is fantastic. In fact, two years ago I was still just dreaming of entering MotoGP.”

“But I always want more, and I will do everything to be successful,” said Morbidelli to Corsedimoto.

Now, in his current position with only four races remaining in the 2020 season, Morbidelli is determined to achieve the best results to reach the highest target at the end of the season.

“Now we are really focused on the race, but obviously we have to really do an attacking strategy in the last three races. Apart from that, I cannot do anything wrong,” he continued.

Morbidelli himself is one of the riders who graduated from the VR46 Academy, or Valentino Rossi’s Motorcycle Racing Academy. The 25-year-old racer himself admitted that he really admired the figure of The Doctor.

“I really admire Vale and try to deal with many situations in sports and life in his way. I often ask, ‘What will Vale do?’, Because he always has the right solution at the right time,” he concluded.

Next, Morbidelli will fight at the Valencia GP, to be precise on November 6 to 8.
