Facing Dortmund, PSG will play without Neymar
A week ahead, Paris Saint-Germain will play an important duel. The defending Ligue 1 champion will face German representative Borussia Dortmund in the European Champions League. Nahasnya, Les Parisiens threatened could not lose Neymar in the match later.
As is known, Paris Saint-Germain will travel to Signal Iduna Park in the first leg of the last 16 of the European Champions League on February 18 next. Playing at the opponent’s headquarters, Thomas Tuchel will certainly prepare his best squad for the match.
Unfortunately, the German coach might not be able to play down one of his flagship stars, Neymar Jr. The Brazilian national team striker suffered a rib injury when Les Parisiens met Montpellier, in the 22nd week match of the French Ligue 1 on 1 February 2020.
Indeed, in the match Neymar appeared full, he helped the club win a landslide victory 5-0. But since then, the former Barcelona player has never played again. He missed three Ligue 1 matches.
Until now, Neymar’s condition is declared still not fit, as a result he returned must be absent in the match against Amiens this week. In addition, the 28-year-old may not be able to play when the club travels to Germany next week.
Coach Thomas Tuchel acknowledged the suspicion, where he could not guarantee that Brazilian players could make a comeback at Signal Iduna Park.
“I cannot say if he is 100 percent going to play against Borussia Dortmund. We will discuss and decide on Friday (2/14/2020), which is the last time to do it. We cannot take risks related to Neymar’s fitness, “said Thomas Tuchel.
The injury did seem to be a partner for Neymar since joining Paris Saint-Germain. This season alone, Neymar has missed three times because of three different injuries. As a result, he has missed 13 PSG matches in all competitions.
That’s why Thomas Tuchel was reluctant to take risks related to the player’s condition.
“Obviously we will not take risks against Amiens. We will have a strong team, but if we have a little doubt, we will not take risks,” said Tuchel.
