Exit from Chelsea, Ross Barkley officially joined Aston Villa

England midfielder Ross Barkley is certain to no longer be part of the Chelsea squad this season. The former Everton player has just officially completed his move to Aston Villa.

For information, the 26-year-old player was previously purchased by Chelsea from Everton in the 2018 winter transfer market. Initially he became the mainstay under the direction of coach Maurizio Sarri.

When Frank Lampard arrived and became manager of the Blues first team last year, Barkley was still a mainstay. However, in the 2020/21 season the situation is not clear for the player.

This is related to the arrival of several new players. As is known, Chelsea has indeed bought 7 new players this summer including midfielder Kay Havertz who is believed to be the mainstay of the midfield.

This means that Barkley will not get the chance to play regularly if he chooses to stay.

This situation even made the player linked with a number of Premier League clubs, including the former, Everton.

However, in the end last Wednesday (30/09), Aston Villa announced the arrival of Ross Barkley as their new player. In his statement, Villa said that the 26-year-old midfielder was on loan from Chelsea for the next season.

“Aston Villa is delighted to announce the signing of Ross Barkley as a one-year loan player from Chelsea,” reads an official Aston Villa statement.

In a further statement, Aston Villa explained that Barkley was only borrowed for a season. Or in other words there is no permanent purchase clause at the end of the season.

Dean Smith as Aston Villa coach currently admits that he is very happy with the club’s success in getting Ross Barkley’s services. According to the tactician, the former Everton player is a quality midfielder who will be a great addition to his team.

“To be able to bring in a player of Ross’s caliber is an achievement in itself for our club. I am sure he will be successful here and also improve the performance of our team.” he said.

Ross Barkley himself has made 86 appearances and scored 11 goals for Chelsea in all competitions since joining from Everton.
