Discussion between Suzuki and Andrea Dovizioso have started?
Team Manager Suzuki Elcstar, Davide Brivio cannot deny the fact that his party has started to approach Andrea Dovizioso. The plan, the Italian Rider will be considered as a Suzuki test rider next season.
For information, Andrea Dovizioso has indeed refused a new contract offer from Ducati. Since last August, the 34-year-old man has even confirmed that he will not be part of the Italian manufacturer.
But interestingly, the rider made this decision when he had no other plans regarding his future. Meanwhile, Ducati has officially appointed Francesco Bagnaia to replace Dovizioso.
Various speculations began to be heard regarding Dovizioso’s future. Reportedly the rider will replace Iannone in the Aprilia Racing team. There is also a mention that the 34-year-old man will become Yamaha’s new test rider.
But there is one speculation that comes closest to the truth, is Dovizioso will become Suzuki’s test rider next season.
This speculation was strengthened by the statement of Davide Brivio, who said that Suzuki had indeed started talks with Dovizioso.
It’s just that on the one hand, the Japanese manufacturer still has Sylvain who is doing well in the position as a test rider.
“We actually don’t have much room. We’ve talked to Dovi, but the only chance we can offer him today is the position of a test rider.”
“But we already have Sylvain and we are satisfied with his performance,” he said as quoted by Corsedimoto.
Furthermore, Brivio talked about the possibility of collaborating with the VR46 Team to become the Suzuki Satellite Team next season. Brivio seems pessimistic about this cooperation discourse, this is due to the closeness between Rossi and Yamaha and Ducati.
So, most likely, Team VR46 will be a satellite team from Ducati next season.
“Vale has a privileged relationship with Yamaha, so it’s natural for VR46 to work with them. But in a more precise perspective, it could be that VR46 will still go to MotoGP in 2021 with Ducati,” concluded Brivio.
