Detained By Chelsea’s Draw, Solskjaer Disappointed At the Referee

Not disappointed with the performance of his players, Manchester United coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was actually disappointed with the referee’s performance which he considered to be the cause of the draw against Chelsea last weekend.

The Super Big Match between Chelsea and Manchester United also colored the 26th Matchdays of the Premier League. The duel at Stamford Bridge took place on Sunday night WIB yesterday (28/02).

Manchester United are certainly eyeing tripoin in order to cut the gap with the leaders, Manchester City. Likewise with the host Chelsea.

However, in the end, the two teams had to be willing to share points, considering that the match only ended in a goalless draw.

This result was clearly disappointing for Manchester United, but instead of criticizing his team’s performance, the coach by Gunnar Solskjaer criticized the performance of the referee.

Indeed, in an incident in the first half, MU was almost awarded a penalty but the court was not awarded it. When viewed from the replay, it is evident that the ball vomited from Marcus Rashford’s free kick hit Callum Hudson-Odoi’s hand.

This incident was criticized by coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, he regretted that the referee did not award a penalty even though VAR showed it (Handsball).

“We should have had a penalty, the foul was very clear and proven that Ada couldn’t even understand why they didn’t give it, even though the referee had been asked to review it,”

“They may feel their hands are in a natural position when he hits the ball. Now it’s useless, it’s over. We should have gotten a penalty, that’s clear,” Solskjaer said on the official Manutd.com website.

Not only that, Solskjaer even considered the referee to feel influenced because many coaches said Manchester United often received penalties in the 2019/20 season campaign yesterday.

“And I’m a little worried that we won’t get the penalty as we should because of negative voices a few months ago saying we got too many penalties,”

“Obviously, the coaches have influenced the referee, they shouldn’t have done that,” continued Solskjaer.

Whatever it is, what is clear is that this draw makes Manchester United fall further behind from the top of the standings.
