Manchester City should be proud because one of their players has won an award from the PFA (Professional Football Association). It is Kevin De Bruyne, who won the award for Player of the Year.
It can be said that this award is quite special, because the voting itself is carried out by professional football players in the Premier League. In other words, De Buryne has been recognized by the majority of Premier League players as the best this year.
In his success in winning the award, the Belgian player managed to straddle the Liverpool players.
A total of four Premier League champions last season who competed closely with De Bruyne, they were Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jordan Henderson, Sadio Mane, and Virgil van Dijk.
Of course, this fact is quite surprising, considering that Liverpool managed to win the Premier League after beating Manchester City with 18 points.
Coach Pep Guardiola admitted that he was very pleased with Kevin De Bruyne’s achievement, and considered him deserving of the award.
“Winning this award is an extraordinary achievement, and Kevin deserves it,”
“Being recognized by other players is what every footballer asks for the most, because they understand not only what it means to compete with you, but also the level of commitment needed to play at the top.” said Guardiola on the club’s official website.
Furthermore, Pep also praised the Manchester City players who had performed brilliantly over the past decade who had brought the club to a number of achievements.
“There have been many great players in the history of this club, especially during the last decade working with Roberto (Mancini), Manuel (Pellegrini) and myself.”
For information, De Bruyne is the first player in Manchester City’s history to win this award. Pep then congratulated the former Chelsea player.
“We are very proud of Kevin and this will only strengthen what it means for this club and our fans. From all the players, coaches and staff at Manchester City, I want to congratulate him. ” Close the former Barcelona coach.
Of course, De Bruyne et al will fight to reclaim the Premier League title from the hands of Liverpool next season.
