Continue to dominate, Liverpool can still get better
Liverpool keep going fast, they have passed 19 Premier League matches without being defeated, with 18 wins in between. The latest, the Marseyside Team managed to win over Wolverhampton Wanderers. Although still dominating, defender Virgil Van Dijk says Liverpool can still develop.
As is known, Liverpool faced Wolverhampton Wanderers on Matchday 20 Premier League, Sunday night WIB (29/12). The match that took place at Anfield stadium ended with the score 1-0 victory of the Marseyside Team. The only goal from Jurgen Klopp’s team was Sadio Mane.
With this victory, it means that Liverpool now collect 55 points from 19 matches. They only lost two points from a possible 57 points if they won in 19 matches. In fact, throughout 2019, the Reds only lost once in the league. That happened when dealing with Manchester City in the second half of the 2018/19 season yesterday.
Liverpool also won the Champions League, the European Super Cup and the 2019 Club World Cup, which of course completed their score this year. The chances of winning the Premier League title are also getting bigger along with an 11-point advantage over nearest rivals, Leicester City. Not to mention, Liverpool still have one game that hasn’t been played yet.
However, defender Virgil Van Dijk did not necessarily feel satisfied just like that, he felt that Liverpool could still improve in terms of performance.
“We feel we can still improve and, the game we play, we can do better. But we cannot complain about our current position. 2019 is very promising and hopefully we can go ahead and be positive and enjoy the journey. “We want to continue what we are doing right now and then we will see at the end of the road where we will be,” told Van Dijk to Sky Sports.
As for the match against Wolves yesterday there was a void from the referee related to Sadio Mane’s goal, because Adam Lallana saw him do a handball before the goal. However, after reviewing the video assistant referee (VAR), Mane’s goal in the 42nd minute was declared valid. Liverpool finally pocketed three points in the match.
