Chelsea should get a center-back like Van Dijk

Frank Laboeuf suggested his former club, Chelsea, should be able to emulate Liverpool in terms of recruiting central defenders. According to him, the Blues must find a central defender classmate Virgil Van Dijk.

This season’s campaign has indeed ended. Chelsea are also trying to fix their squad by targeting new players in the transfer market this summer.

So far, the London Club has secured two young players, they are Judge Ziyech and Timo Werner. But it is believed, the Blues will still recruit other players, so far there is Kai Havertz who is associated with them.

Coach Frank Lampard is believed to be eyeing a left back and and new goalkeeper. But Frank Leboeuf suggested his former club look for a reliable central defender.

“Chelsea needs everything. That is the problem. Goalkeepers are a big problem, but you have to go to the main. If you look at the main problem, it is a central defender, ”

“Zouma is fine, but I’m not sure about Rudiger, I’m not confident with Christensen. “I don’t know what will happen with Tomori, but I think they need another big player,” he told ESPN.

What Chelsea needs to do is follow the example of Liverpool who are willing to reach big pockets in order to bring in Virgil Van Dijk in early 2018.

The result, the Dutch national team defender immediately had a big impact on the overall performance of the Marseyside team.

“You see what happens with Liverpool when they get Van Dijk, he changes everything. “Even Lovren and Gomez look better next to them,” he exclaimed.

“You need a big man to make sure he will lead the defense. Look at Ramos. Varane is a fantastic player, but is he still a fantastic player when he plays for France like when he played for Madrid with Sergio Ramos? He is better with Real Madrid, “he said.

Before ending the campaign this season, Chelsea do seem to need a new defender. It was seen from their defeat when dealing with Arsenal in the FA Cup final.

The match which took place last weekend ended with a final score of 1-2.
