Chelsea officially appoint Thomas Tuchel as the replacement of Frank Lampard

Not long after firing Frank Lampard earlier this week, Chelsea immediately appointed a new coach to handle Tammy Abraham et al. The coach is Thomas Tuchel, former manager of Paris Saint-Germain.

As is known, Lampard was fired by Chelsea after only 18 months in charge of their first team. The dismissal took place last Monday (25/01), after a series of negative results obtained by the Blues.

Two days later, on Wednesday morning WIB, January 27, 2021, Chelsea issued an official announcement regarding the appointment of Thomas Tuchel as the new manager.

No need to linger, Thomas Tuchel immediately met the Chelsea squad and held his inaugural training on the same day in preparation for Wolverhampton in the Premier League, Thursday morning WIB (28/01).

Even so, the man from Germany did not forget to say a few words to the Chelsea fans and also thanks his previous coach, Frank Lampard.

“I want to thank Chelsea FC for their trust in me and my staff. We all have a lot of respect for Frank Lampard’s work and the legacy he has created at Chelsea. ”

“At the same time, I can’t wait to meet my new team and compete in the most exciting league in football. I’m grateful to be now part of the Chelsea family – it feels great! “Said Tuchel.

Remarks were also spoken by Chelsea through Marina Granovskaia as their director.

“It’s never easy to change the Head Coach in the middle of the season, but we are very happy to have one of Europe’s best coaches, Thomas Tuchel,”

“There is still a lot to play and a lot to achieve, this season and beyond. We welcome Thomas to the club.” said Marina.

The appointment of Thomas Tuchel also recorded a new history for Chelsea, where the former Borussia Dortmund coach officially became the first German manager to handle the Blues.

At his new club, Thomas Tuchel will again meet two of his former players, including Thiago Silva and Christian Pulisic. Each successively the two players have worked with Tuchel at Paris Saint-Germain and Borussia Dortmund.
