Bruno Fernandes admits Manchester United performed poorly in all sectors
Midfielder Bruno Fernandes cannot comment on the poor performance of his team which led to the defeat to Istanbul Basaksehir in the morning WIB. According to the Portuguese player, Manchester United did look bad in all aspects.
Prior to this, Manchester United had a surprising appearance in the first two matches of the European Champions League group phase. They finished off two semifinalists last season, Paris Saint-Germain and RB Leipzig.
However, when they faced Istanbul Basaksehir, whose quality was far below the two teams, Solskjaer’s troops were defeated with a final score of 2-1.
Indeed, these results do not change anything, MU is still at the top of the standings with 6 points. However, on the one hand, this defeat made the players less confident, considering that they previously lost 0-1 to Arsenal.
Not to mention when talking about performance in that match, Manchester United looked chaotic from the first minute. Their strikers didn’t even register many chances.
Bruno Fernandes himself could only surrender, admitting that his team did appear ‘inconsequential’ from the first minute until the match ended.
“Today the game went badly, everything went wrong, we did everything wrong. They can score a goal at the start of the match and afterwards the game is complicated for us.” Said Bruno Fernandes to the Manchester Evening News.
However, the Portuguese player who was bought by MU in January admitted that he was very confident that his team could get up soon and achieve better results in the future.
“I think we can play much better, everyone feels that way. We know we can’t concede like that. But now is the time to see where we went wrong and try to do better in the next game.” continued Bruno.
Still, losing to a team in the middle of nowhere after last season’s big win over the Semifinalists made Manchester United feel that this defeat was tough.
“We could not create many chances, but we had a lot of possession of the ball. We tried to play and create empty space, but they defended well. This defeat was tough for us,” he concluded.
