Blaise Matuidi seduced French National Team teammate Antoine Griezmann to try his luck at his career in the United States with David Beckham’s club Inter Miami.
In fact, it was rumored that Griezmann would leave Barcelona last summer. This is due to the player’s performance which is still far from expectations, while on the one hand the club has spent a lot to buy him from Atletico Madrid.
In total, Griezmann scored just 15 goals from 51 appearances in all competitions last season. Of course, the performance disappointed the Catalan Giant fans.
However, Griezmann ultimately endured persuasion from the new coach Ronald Koeman. But the situation has not improved, at the start of this season the former Atletico has not scored a single goal in all competitions.
The French National Team coach, Didier Deschamps thinks that it is all because Griezmann is not playing in the position he should be.
The player was indeed demoted as a winger by coach Ronald Koeman, even though his original position was center-forward.
Blaise Matuidi himself has just joined the Major League Soccer club Inter Miami since last summer. When asked about Griezmann’s opportunities following his trail to join the club led by David Beckham, this is the answer from the former Juventus;
“I don’t know. Only the future can tell. But if he hopes to come one day, he will be welcomed,” he replied to Canal +.
Furthermore, Matuidi admitted that he believed that Griezmann was currently only going through a difficult period. He is still young and has a long-term contract at Barcelona, where he can use that long time to improve his performance.
“Antoine is still young. I know he is at one of the biggest clubs in the world at the moment. He has to go through the tough times he’s been through,” he added.
“After that, he still has many years to play there, with a long contract,” Matuidi exclaimed.
As a result of his inconsistent performance at club level, Griezmann did not become the mainstay of the French national team at this month’s international break.
