Before joining Manchester United, Van De Beek admits he almost moved to Madrid
Anyar Manchester United midfielder, Donny Van De Beek, revealed the fact that he had almost received a proposal from Real Madrid before joining Old Trafford.
At least in the last two seasons, Donny Van De Beek’s name continues to be a byword. None other than because of his performance with Ajax Amsterdam, where he managed to lead the Dutch club to reach the semifinals of the European Champions League last season 2018/19.
As a result, a number of European giants were then linked with the 23-year-old midfielder, including Real Madrid and Manchester United.
Even though in the end Manchester United managed to win this competition, Van De Beek had almost moved to Real Madrid.
In fact, there has been an agreement reached between Ajax Amsterdam and the Spanish La Liga Champion. It’s just that there are several reasons that later made his transfer to the Santiago Bernabeu canceled.
“You don’t know how relieved I am to this transfer. You probably already know that I was close to moving to Real Madrid. The club has reached an agreement, but for some reason this transfer has not finished.”
“This transfer failure certainly makes me nervous and I wonder if the opportunity to move to a club like this will come again.” said van de Beek to Telegraaf.
Furthermore, Van De Beek admitted that he was very happy when he heard of an offer from Manchester United. In fact, the person concerned did not even think twice about accepting the offer.
“Manchester United is my dream and this club is a great club. This club is one of the strongest in the world, so I didn’t have to think twice when this opportunity came.” he said.
We still need a few small details to look forward to the introduction of Van De Beek as Manchester United’s new player.
The Red Devils are reported to have to spend 40 million euros plus 5 million euros in the form of a conditional bonus to make this transfer a reality. Van De Beek’s arrival is expected to increase into the Manchester United squad next season.
As is known, the club already has Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba, whom they rely heavily on in midfield.
