Bayern Munich officially extended Manuel Neuer’s contract
The future of German national team goalkeeper Manuel Neuer at Bayern Munich has finally reached a clear point. Die Roten officially gave a new contract to the 34-year-old player.
In the last few months, there was news that Manuel Neuer had a dispute with Die Roten’s management. In addition to the contract issue, the former Schalke 04 admitted he was disappointed with the club’s decision to bring a talented young goalkeeper, Alexander Nubel.
Manuel Neuer felt rivaled and threatened by the arrival of his compatriot. Inevitably, speculation about his future has become a conversation among European media, and some have even linked the 2014 world champion with a number of clubs, especially Chelsea.
However, a statement from the CEO of Bayern Munchen, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge could make Die Roten supporters feel relieved. Neuer has officially extended his contract at the Allianz Arena until 2023.
“Bayern are very happy that Manuel has extended his contract until 30 June 2023. Manuel is the best goalkeeper in the world and our captain,” explained The Bavarians CEO, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.
Coach Hansi Flick still seems to rely on Neuer.
The goalkeeper did not deny that he was very happy with the extension of this new contract.
“I feel comfortable and at home in Bavaria. Bayern Munich is one of the top clubs in Europe,” Neuer said.
Manuel Neuer himself joined Bayern Munich in the 2011 summer transfer window. He was redeemed from Schalke 04 with a dowry worth 30 million euros.
For approximately 9 years, Neuer recorded 192 clean sheets from 374 appearances with Bayern Munich. He contributed greatly to the club’s success in winning 18 prestigious titles, including the 2013 Treble Winner.
But indeed, in the last two seasons, Manuel Neuer has often been hit by injuries. In fact, he was absent for almost a full season because of a broken leg injury. Whether because of age or purely because of injuries that cannot be avoided.
What is clear, Neuer’s condition is now fully fit, he even dropped since the first minute when the German Bundesliga rolled again in the match against Union Berlin last weekend.
