Antoine Griezmann: Just enjoy the performance of Lionel Messi!
Barcelona striker Antoine Griezmann asked the public not to be fixated on Lionel Messi’s contract problem, but to focus and just enjoy the performance of the Argentinine mega star who he considered one of the best players in history.
Lionel Messi is currently being discussed by many parties, because until now there has been no sign of a contract extension between La Pulga and Barcelona. In fact, Messi’s contract at the Camp Nou will expire next summer.
Despite that fact, the 6 Ballon d’Or winner still displayed his maximum performance on the field. Most recently, he helped Barcelona win three points in the match against Athletic Bilbao last weekend.
In the match that took place at the Camp Nou, Messi led Barcelona to win 2-1 with one of his goals he created beautifully. While one more goal was scored by Antoine Griezmann.
The victory made the Catalan giants move up to second place in the standings, with a score of 40 points or 10 behind the top, Atletico Madrid.
Messi himself became the center of attention in the match, where his goal became the 12th goal in the Spanish La Liga this season. Meanwhile, in the last five matches, it was La Pulga’s 6th goal.
In other words, Lionel Messi is back productive after previously having difficulty scoring goals. Therefore, Griezmann asked the public to enjoy Messi’s performance more than think about his future.
“We all enjoy Lionel Messi, he is a legend,” Griezmann said as quoted by Movistar +.
With the victory over Athletic Bilbao, Barcelona also succeeded in stepping up their eternal rival, Real Madrid. Despite having the same number of points, Ronald Koeman’s Catalan Giant is more entitled to be in second place because of the advantage on goal difference.
However, Griezmann was reluctant to be tempted by this fact and instead focused on the team’s performance.
“There are many games left and we have to focus on our own performance. We must try to win every game that remains. After that, we’ll see what happens,” he said.
