According to Luke Shaw, Ighalo is indeed eligible for a new contract
Manchester United defender Luke Shaw is also pleased with the news of Odion Ighalo’s contract extension, he considers the Senegalese player to be eligible for a new contract.
Ighalo’s future at Manchester United was indeed gray. The Senegalese striker is reportedly going to be pulled back by Shanghai Shenhua, because since the beginning of the agreement it only played as a loan until May 31, 2020.
However, in the end Manchester United managed to reach an agreement with the Chinese club despite going through a fairly long negotiation process. Thus, Odion Ighalo officially stayed at MU until January 2021.
Luke Shaw also welcomed the news positively.
“We got good news this week, Odion extended his contract,” Shaw said on the official Manchester United website.
Not without reason, according to the former Southampton player, Odion Ighalo has indeed performed well together with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s troops since joining in the winter transfer market January 2020.
“All of our players are happy to see him extend his contract. Indeed the situation was uncertain so we didn’t discuss much about it in the training session, but at the moment, we are happy to see him survive. ”
“Before he arrived at this club, there were many people, who were not sure whether he could contribute to this club. But he managed to prove that he was able to score goals and was able to present a different style to our attack line.” He said.
For this reason, the England national team defender considers that Odion Ighalo is indeed very worthy of getting a new contract extension.
“He deserves the chance to stay at this club longer. He brings happiness and a smile to this club,” he said.
Odion Ighalo has indeed become a mainstay of Manchester United since arriving at the January 2020 winter transfer market. Coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer seemed to rely heavily on him along with the injury suffered by Marcus Rashford.
Now it is still a question mark, whether Ighalo can still be a mainstay of Manchester United, considering Marcus Rashord has recovered from injury.
The plan, the English Premier League itself will roll again starting on 20 June 2020.
