Argentine mega star Lionel Messi has been one of Barcelona’s main frontmen for the last 16 years or so. That said, he is the main icon of the Catalan club.
This fact seems to block the way for Real Madrid to recruit Messi. However, Los Blancos certainly did not just fly the white flag, where they had attempted to transfer Messi to the Santiago Bernabeu in 2013.
This claim was conveyed by Gianluca di Marzio as a well-known Italian journalist. To Marca, Marzio revealed that Lionel Messi had flatly refused the offer made by Real Madrid at that time.
At that time, Real Madrid was actually planning to build a new stadium, but President Florentino Perez was so desperate to bring La Pulga. In the end, the club made a bid of 250 million Euros to make Messi the “Traitor” el Clasico.
But their efforts were fruitless, even a little Messi did not look at the contract offer from Barcelona’s eternal rivals.
“The offer from the president of Real Madrid, Florentino Perez, was presented in 2013 and he is offering 250 million euros for this Argentine forward [Messi],”
“The money was originally intended for the rebuilding of the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu. Even so, Messi’s response was very cold. In essence he said ‘I’m not going to Real Madrid, you’re just wasting time’,” said Di Marzio.
Actually, this news is not the first time this has been heard, two years ago there was similar news on the Football Leaks website, but Di Marzio made it clear through an interview with Marca.
In fact, in Football Leaks, it was stated that not only had Real Madrid tried to persuade Messi to leave Barca, but also Inter Milan, Chelsea, Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain.
However, none of the clubs above managed to land the winner of the six Ballon d’Or.
A few months ago this opportunity was wide open, Messi rebelled in Barcelona. Even so, he decided to stay just for the sake of respecting the club, and is now entering the last year of his contract.
In other words, Messi’s wonderful journey with Barcelona may end in the summer of next year. So, where is the captain going?
